Titre : Terreur africaine : Burundi, Rwanda, Zaïre les racines de la violence Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Colette Braeckman, Auteur Editeur : Paris : Fayard Année de publication : 1996 Importance : 347 p Langues : Français (fre) Catégories : Afrique Tags : Afrique Géopolitique Conflits Index. décimale : 09.02 Afrique Résumé : Pourquoi faut-il que des Hutus massacrent des Tutsis, que des Tutsis massacrent des Hutus? Luttes tribales, dit-on, séculaires, inévitables...
- Paris : Fayard, 1996 . - 347 p.

Titre : The Dragon's gift : The real story of China in Africa Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Deborah Brautigam, Auteur Editeur : Oxford [UK] : Oxford University Press Année de publication : 2011 Importance : 397 p Note générale : 09.02 BRA Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Afrique
ChineTags : Afrique Chine Aide économique Conditions économiques Index. décimale : 09.02 Afrique Résumé : Brautigam situates the current relationship between China and Africa within a historical framework that goes back to the 1960s. Bucking the conventional wisdom that China's substantial increases in aid to the region are motivated by short-term commercial and strategic interests, Brautigam's lively and thoroughly documented account emphasizes that Chinese motivations are broader and more long term. The book starts with a revealing history of Chinese involvement in the region, beginning with agricultural and infrastructure projects in the 1960s. It outlines China's current aid activities and investments in the region, providing the most authoritative data available on both. The book's most intriguing argument is that China is genuinely interested in extending to Africa the lessons it learned from its own development and that what may appear to be crass commercial moves are actually the result of careful thinking about mutually beneficial activities. Brautigam is clearly impressed with what she views as the breadth and sophistication of China's Africa policy and contrasts it with the self-serving and nearsighted thinking of the West's. Titre : The market tells them so : the World Bank and economic fundamentalism in Africa Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : John Mihevc, Auteur Editeur : Third World Network Année de publication : 1995 Importance : 313 p Note générale : 09.02 MIH Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Banque mondiale
AfriqueTags : Ajustement structurel Afrique Banque mondiale Mouvements sociaux Index. décimale : 09.02 Afrique Résumé : Structural adjustment is not just economic strategy designed to assist countries in addressing technical problems related to trade, growth and the balance of payments. It embodies also, this author argues, a social, cultural and even quasi-religious vision for the remaking of Africa and the world. John Mihevc focuses on three aspects of structural adjustment in particular. He provides an entirely innovative characterization of World Bank thinking as essentially fundamentalist in the scale of ambitions, its ignoring of the complexities of social reality, and its denial of the legitimacy of contrary views of development. He gives a trenchant account of the criticisms which World Bank policies have elicited. And he considers that response from African churches and social movements representing voices of resistance and providing an alternative vision.
