Politique économiqueTags : Sciences économiques Croissance Économie politique Croissance économique Environnement Aide au développement Politique de développement Résumé : Historically, the recognition by humans of their impact upon the earth has consistently lagged behind the magnitude of the damage they have imposed, thus seriously weakening efforts to control this damage. Even today, technological optimists and others ignore the mounting evidence of global environmental degradation until it intrudes more inescapably upon their personal welfare. Even some serious students draw comfort from the arguments that:
• GDP figures are increasing throughout much of the world.
• Life expectancies are increasing in many nations.
• Evidence of greenhouse warming is ambiguous.
• Some claims of environmental damage have been exaggerated.
• Previous predictions of environmental catastrophe have not been borne out.An Introduction to Ecological Economics [document électronique] / Robert Costanza, Auteur ; John Cumberland, Auteur ; Herman Daly, Auteur . - [S.l.] : CRC Press, 1997 . - 250 p.

Titre : Conflicts over Natural Resources in the Global South : conceptual approaches Type de document : document électronique Auteurs : Maarten Bavinck, Auteur ; Lorenzo Pellegrini, Auteur ; Erik Mostert Editeur : CRC Press Année de publication : 2014 Importance : 207 p Langues : Anglais (eng) Tags : Afrique Asie Amérique latine Conflits Ressources naturelles Résumé : Inhabitants of poor, rural areas in the Global South heavily depend on natural resources in their immediate vicinity. Conflicts over and exploitation of these resources - whether it is water, fish, wood fuel, minerals, or land - severely affect their livelihoods. The contributors to this volume leave behind the polarised debate, previously surrounding the relationship between natural resources and conflict, preferring a more nuanced approach that allows for multiple causes at various levels. The contributions cover a wide array of resources, geographical contexts (Africa, Asia and Latin America), and conflict dynamics. Most are of a comparative nature, exploring experiences of conflict as well as cooperation in multiple regions.
