Titre : Gaps in basic worker's rights : Measuring international adherence to and implementation of the Organization's values with public ILO data Type de document : texte imprimé Auteurs : Roger Böhning, Auteur Editeur : Genève [Suisse] : ILO Année de publication : May 2003 Collection : Working Paper num. 13 Importance : 69 p Langues : Anglais (eng) Catégories : Conditions de travail Tags : Travail Emploi Droits des travailleurs Index. décimale : 05.01 Travail - Généralités Résumé : Several ILO colleagues recently began work on Decent Work indicators. Almost invariably, they ran into problems capturing comprehensively what is at the very centre of the ILO and Decent Work, the standards that the Organization has set over the years in the labour field, or they left aside standards altogether. This irked me sufficiently, late last year, to try my hand at putting forward some ideas. Little did I know what I let myself in for. A number of my colleagues in the International Labour Standards Department were aghast at hearing of the simplifications that indicators would introduce without paying attention to the substance and details of everything specialists look at. Conditions de travailTags : Emploi Travail Droits des travailleurs Index. décimale : 05.01 Travail - Généralités Résumé : In June 1998 the International Labour Conference adopted the ILO Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work and its Follow-up. The Declaration obligates all member States of the International Labour Organization to respect, promote and realize freedom of association and effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining, the elimination of all forms of forced or compulsory labour, the effective abolition of child labour, and the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation. The InFocus Programme on Promoting the Declaration is responsible for the reporting processes and technical cooperation activities associated with the Declaration Follow-up; and it carries out awareness-raising, advocacy and knowledge functions – of which this Working Paper is an example. Working Papers are intended to stimulate discussion of the issues covered by the Declaration. They express the views of the authors, which are not necessarily those of the ILO.(...)
