Travail domestique Droits des travailleurs |
Résumé : |
Domestic work is a social phenomenon in Africa which still affects many children and youngsters nowadays. Some of them enjoy decent living and working conditions; this activity enables them to make a living and offers them some prospects of a better future. A majority of them however experiences long working hours, low wages if any, and a lack of social protection and recognition. Although education is a right, many of these youngsters must drop out of school to work or are deprived of the opportunity to continue their studies when «employed» as a domestic worker. Few Ministries of Education make provisions in their education plans for the training of young domestic workers in order to adapt education opportunities to their specific situation and needs. The training of domestic workers is not only a matter of fundamental rights, but also a key social and economic issue at a time of profound transformation on the continent. |
